Manifold Care, Inc. (“Manifold,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our products and services, including Balance, our mood tracking application with wearable integration and causal discovery models. By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve our services:

  • Mood data. Self-reported mood entries, emotional states, and contextual notes you provide through the Balance app.
  • Wearable data. Data synced from connected wearable devices, including sleep patterns, physical activity, heart rate, and other biometric signals.
  • Voice journaling. If you opt in, audio recordings and transcriptions from voice journal entries. This feature is entirely optional and can be disabled at any time.
  • Usage analytics. Anonymized data about how you interact with our app, including feature usage, session duration, and navigation patterns. This data is used solely to improve the product experience.
  • Account information. Email address and basic profile information you provide when creating an account.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Build and refine your personal causal models, identifying the factors that drive your mood and wellbeing.
  • Provide personalized insights and actionable recommendations based on your individual data, not population averages.
  • Improve, maintain, and debug our services and underlying algorithms.
  • Communicate with you about your account, product updates, and support requests.
  • Conduct anonymized, aggregated research to advance our causal discovery methodology. Individual-level data is never used for research without your explicit consent.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. Your health and wellness data exists to serve you, not to monetize you.

Data Storage & Security

We treat your data with the highest level of care. Security is not an afterthought at Manifold — it is foundational to our architecture.

  • Post-quantum encryption. All data is protected with post-quantum cryptographic algorithms for both data at rest and data in transit, ensuring your information remains secure against current and future threats.
  • On-device encryption. Your data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches our servers. We employ a zero-knowledge architecture wherever possible, meaning we cannot access the content of your encrypted data.
  • Compliance. We are HIPAA compliant, GDPR compliant, and have achieved SOC 2 Type II certification. Our infrastructure and processes are regularly audited by independent third parties.
  • Infrastructure. Data is stored in secure, geographically distributed data centers with strict access controls, intrusion detection, and continuous monitoring.

Third-Party Services

We integrate with third-party wearable platforms (such as Apple Health, Google Health Connect, and other fitness APIs) to sync your biometric data. These integrations are initiated only with your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time.

We may use third-party service providers for infrastructure, analytics, and communications. All third-party providers are contractually bound to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for any purpose other than providing services to Manifold.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data. Regardless of where you are located, we provide the following rights to all users:

  • Access and export. You can export all of your data at any time in a portable, machine-readable format directly from the app.
  • Deletion. You can delete your data and account at any time. When you request deletion, all of your personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
  • Correction. You can update or correct any personal information associated with your account.
  • Withdraw consent. You can withdraw consent for optional data collection (such as voice journaling or wearable integrations) at any time without affecting your ability to use core features of the app.
  • Data portability. Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format and to transmit it to another provider.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email before the changes take effect.
